Otokonoko Bokujo

Otokonoko Bokujo homeA mobile phone site Otokonoko Bokujo is giving rise to much controversy. It was started by Cyber Agent on 13 May and its name literally means "Boys' Farm". The service is aimed at supporting women who are looking for their future partner.

Recently a new word konkatsu, partner hunting, is getting popular. The company says they want to promote communication among women and to help them through the theme of konkatsu.

Otokonoko Bokujou is a coomunity site which women who signed up register their friends' photo and profile and introduce them. The registered men appear as horses, cows and sheeps in the virtual "farm".

Since it was launched, a lot of people posted comments on the company's blog.The For example,
"Is it ethically all right to express men as domesticated animals?"
"You're in lack of consideration. I think it vulgar."
Also some say it's not good because it lacks the protection of personal information.

In addition, the name "Farm" is inappropriate. So the company is thinking about the change of its name.

Otokonoko Bokujo was closed on 18 May because of the criticism.
